Department Function

The City of Soledad has been contracting with CAL FIRE since January 2012 to provide full-time professional fire service to the City of Soledad and the Mission-Soledad Fire Protection District.  The Fire Department protects approximately 34,000 citizens within a 97 square mile response area.  Station 37 responds to over 1400 emergency calls a year.  The Fire Department is currently comprised of:
    • One Battalion Chief
    • One Fire Captain
    • Two Fire Apparatus Engineers
    • Two Firefighters
    • One Part-Time Training Fire Captain

    Services are delivered 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 

    Responsibilities

    • Educating the public in fire and life safety measures
    • Preventing the ignition and spread of unwanted fires 
    • Providing rescue and emergency care services
    • Responding to, and mitigating the effects on the community from fires, hazardous conditions, and natural and man-made disasters
