City of Soledad City Manager Adela Gonzalez announced that Donald (Don) Wilcox has been appointed as the Public Works Director for the City of Soledad. Mr. Wilcox will begin his new assignment on Tuesday, January 3, 2012.

Mr. Wilcox has extensive work experience in the vast and diverse functions of a Public Works Department. In addition to his experience in several Utility Management positions, he served as Public Works Director/City Engineer for the City of Brookings, Oregon starting in 2005. He is presently employed in the City of Klamath Falls, Oregon as the City Engineer.

Mr. Wilcox possesses a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering. Mr. Wilcox is also a Certified Professional Engineer (Civil and Environmental), Board Certified Environmental Engineer, and possesses certifications for Grade IV Water Treatment, Grade IV Water Distribution, Grade IV Wastewater Collections, and Grade III Wastewater Treatment.

As the Soledad Public Works Director, Don will direct and oversee all functions and activities of the Public Works Department including maintaining the City’s infrastructure, including streets and sidewalks, public parks, right of way landscaping, community facilities, traffic signals, street lights, the storm drain system, as well as maintaining the City’s municipal facilities and fleet of emergency and non-emergency vehicles and equipment. Other services will include providing utility services, administration of garbage services, graffiti abatement and emergency response support to the Fire and Police departments.

Don Wilcox will transition to the City of Soledad from his current residence and employment in the City of Klamath Falls, Oregon.
